Pop! Studio is located in the popular Northeast neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota at 1101 NE Stinson Blvd #101 - within the Foundry building. We are conveniently right off of highway 35W on the corner of Stinson Boulevard + Broadway Avenue, making us easily accessible to all parts of the Twin Cities and its outlying suburbs!

We are open by appointment only, typically on select weekends from Friday - Sunday. However, you can conveniently review upcoming availability and reserve a time for your session on our booking page!

We provide professional family photography for all ages, including babies ages 6+ months, toddlers, preschoolers, grade schoolers, middle schoolers, teenagers, seniors, and adults! Joe is extremely experienced with all age groups through his many years as a family and wedding photographer.

Unfortunately Pop! Studio does not offer newborn sessions for babies under 6 months old. However our sister company Joe and Jen Families absolutely does!

Why? Pop! sessions, and the studio space itself, are designed for babies and children that are 6+ months in age. We find that the home environment is more comfortable and convenient for smaller babies - and for new parents too! In addition, the 45 minute fast-and-easy sessions at Pop! are not a great fit for newborns’ stamina and need for breaks (feeding, changing, resting, etc).

That said, we absolutely LOVE photographing newborn babies and the magical time of your first couple of months together. Newborn sessions are best documented through our sister company Joe and Jen Families which specializes in documentary-style photos at your home. Absolutely!! Our lead photographer Joe specializes in capturing candid, genuine photos of the personalities in front of his camera - no matter their age! He has a full supply of poses, prompts, games, and questions to get your minds off of the camera, and for your family to get connected and have some fun together.

We never expect any of our subjects to be professional models, and we promise that Joe will help all of you to feel and look your best!

Our top recommendation is to wear clothes that you are all comfortable in, and styles that you would normally wear! We want you to look like yourselves, and we don’t believe that new outfits or formalwear are necessary for family photos.

Within your crew, opt for "complimentary, but not uniform" between individuals. Choose colors that are friendly with one another, and items that feel cohesive in terms of level of casualness. However, each person doesn’t need to be in the exact same colors or type of outfit. It’s okay to mix it up, as too matchy-matchy can feel dated! We suggest laying all outfits out together on the floor or a bed to envision how they’ll work together!

Things to avoid: loud patterns, big text, noticeable graphics, or brand logos can date photos and distract from the people in them. Also avoid very bright colors, as neons and reds can read strange on-camera and reflect odd hues onto your faces.

We can accommodate one outfit change if time and kids’ moods will allow for it! Feel free to bring options for Joe to help you choose based on the backdrop colors used.
